Description

A Light Left On is a 3D narrative adventure about a child finding their way through emotional darkness. It is a gift for children who feel alone, and for the child we once were: a small world where care can be rediscovered and difficult feelings do not have to be faced alone.

You play as Xiao Yin, a masked spirit surrounded by circling black wisps. Across six places (a misty station, an old school, a home corridor, a quiet amusement park, a rainy hillside and a homecoming town), you collect ten keepsakes. Each one unfolds a four-part story about an ordinary moment of care: someone waiting, sharing, listening, or leaving a place for you.

As you progress, what strength means changes. You begin with powerful defensive and offensive abilities. As memories return, your attacks weaken and eventually become harmless ways to create space. Color returns to the hero, the surrounding darkness fades, and hostile creatures appear less often. Human figures gradually regain their color and become recognizable people, and talking to them lets you ask for space and pass peacefully.

You explore freely: find a bridge key, decipher symbols, move chairs out of the way, adjust water gates and follow a sequence of lamps. Abilities on cooldowns, quiet interactions and memories you can replay connect the story to the play. The playable protagonist was created with Tripo image-to-3D, while the environments and distinct human NPCs are built in code; the game runs on Three.js in the browser.

The ending offers a welcome, not an instant cure. Xiao Yin may still feel sad, and can enter the light with or without the mask. This is a fictional journey, not a treatment: a reminder that support, boundaries and connection can coexist with difficult days. The playable demo contains six chapters and ten memories, and the in-game text is in Chinese.

How Tripo was used

Tripo provided the game's central character asset: Xiao Yin, the protagonist you play.

  • From reference to hero: a character reference was extracted from the concept image with OpenAI image generation, then Tripo image-to-3D turned it into the protagonist. The initial model was refined into a detailed PBR GLB with 48,346 faces and integrated into Three.js.
  • Changing with memories: custom shaders restore the hero's color as memories return, while a separate orbiting aura fades; procedural motion ties the model to exploration and abilities.
  • Division of labor: environments, NPCs, gameplay and animation effects are implemented in code; Tripo provides the central character asset.
