Description

Crossing is an animated short built around one idea: the world is not only for humans. It is set on the African savanna and features a snake, a rat and a vehicle. The snake's movement, the vehicle's movement and the interaction between the two were all animated by the creator in Blender. The creator made it as a gift for their family.

The film was made independently, from concept to final production, and the story, concept, visual direction and overall creative idea are the creator's own. The 3D models and assets were created with Tripo to the creator's own requirements and direction. Blender was used for model preparation, scene setup, the savanna environment, materials, animation, camera work, lighting and rendering, and the timing, camera angles and shot composition were also worked out there.

The final film was edited and assembled entirely in Blender, including the shot order and final visual adjustments.

How Tripo was used

Tripo was the AI-assisted 3D asset tool in the creator's workflow.

  • Starting models: the initial 3D models for the snake, the rat, the vehicle and other assets were generated with Tripo to the creator's own requirements.
  • Everything after: the creator prepared and refined the assets, built the environment, and handled animation, lighting, rendering and the edit. Tripo sped up asset creation, leaving more room to focus on storytelling and cinematic animation.
