Description

DoodleQuest turns a drawing into the hero of a little world made for someone you love. A creator picks artwork they have permission to use, approves the 3D character, adds a recipient and a personal note, and wraps the adventure into an unlisted gift link. The recipient doesn't need to sign up: they reveal the drawing, ring three musical bells, then collect a star and deliver it to unlock the letter.

The demo tells the story of a little artist's gift to Dad. In an 89-second narrated walkthrough, a doodle of Dad becomes a superhero. It shows an actual Tripo image-to-3D generation in the hosted app, the drawing beside the resulting 3D hero, personalization, and the complete playable creator preview, ending with "You are my hero every day." The father illustration is fictional artwork made with OpenAI image generation, and the little girl's narration uses MiniMax's Lovely Girl synthetic voice via OpenRouter. It is an authored demonstration, not a real child's drawing or recording.

Tripo supplies the personalized hero: the app stores and validates the generated model and reuses that same character throughout the experience. The world, quest, stationery and bell melody are original app content, and the hero in the video uses a simple fallback motion.

The public demo runs on Vercel and Neon PostgreSQL. You can play the procedurally generated example character Pip and create, save and share a gift; generating a new Tripo hero requires creator authorization, and the Dad gift in the video is still a creator preview.

Next.js, React Three Fiber, Three.js and Vercel Workflows power the flow. Saved drafts, explicit approval, immutable gift versions and revocation keep creators in control. Keyboard controls, reduced motion, a lower rendering quality setting and a readable fallback offer different ways to play. The creator supplies the message; the small adventure makes receiving it part of the gift.

How Tripo was used

Tripo turns the doodle into the hero.

  • Image-to-3D: in the demo, the Tripo API turns the father doodle into a personalized 3D hero; the walkthrough shows one successful generation in the hosted app.
  • Into the app: DoodleQuest keeps the task ID, validates and stores the GLB, and only uses the hero after the creator approves it.
  • In the world: the same hero rings the bells, carries the star and delivers Dad's letter in a Three.js world.
