Description

LUMINAURA is an eight-minute VFX short featuring a cast of non-human elven characters. The team dedicates it to the planet and to cognitive rehabilitation for people with profound autism. Its conceptual basis, the team's V-IEL color and logic language, existed before the hackathon.

The film unfolds in four acts:

  • Act I: space opens beneath a "Luminaura Alert" vortex. The "ME Producciones" logo introduces a troupe of harlequins, and one of them, crying black tears, emerges from the 3D letters "DGEN".
  • Act II: the cyborg chassis of Clair rises from the wreckage holding an engraved motherboard and activates a data card to isolate the noise.
  • Act III: elven faces interconnect. SYRENA, an azure deity with liquid hair, restores algorithmic stability under the Constitutional Neuro-Rights Act, and the commander, Esmeralda Rebel, seals a sacred pact with specters of blue ash.
  • Act IV: the specters kneel on deck, and the commander retrieves the living software core pulsing with cyan light. The film closes with a liberating, sculptural dance.

During the hackathon, the team built all of the 3D assets, designed custom WebGL shader parameters and edited the full film. The characters are high-density meshes: the base characters average about 1.9 million polygons, and the most detailed sculptural mesh has 2,621,880 triangles and 1,473,098 vertices, with the counts shown on screen. Gemini, Meta AI, Edits and PixVerse were also part of the production, and the volumetric walkthrough drew on World Labs, with future light-field and glasses-free 3D displays in mind. The original music and sound design came from the team's visual partner.

How Tripo was used

Tripo was the core geometry generator for the film's elven characters.

  • Character meshes: Tripo generated the base meshes for the non-human elven characters, giving the team the underlying topology for the high-density meshes that followed.
  • Scaling up: building on those meshes, the team pushed the most detailed model to 2,621,880 triangles.
