Description

Imagine you've just sent a prompt to an AI and your code is still generating. With a moment to spare, you open Deep Space Receiver on your desktop. Your companion, far across the stars, has sent a photo. Somewhere in those alien ruins lies a secret the two of you have yet to uncover.

Deep Space Receiver is an interstellar exploration game woven into everyday vibe coding. It is the team's gift to people who create with AI every day and find their curiosity wandering during those brief waits: a little something from afar to look forward to.

The story begins with a letter. An explorer traveling through deep space reaches out and invites you to be their companion on the other end of the signal. They venture into the unknown, photograph distant landscapes, scan unfamiliar environments and document what they find, sending photos, scans and travel journals back to your desktop. Your job is to receive and organize these records, connect scattered discoveries and identify the key clues in each region. As the picture comes together, you unlock new regions and uncover the stories of unknown civilizations. Your companion relies on your judgment, and every discovery you make helps them travel further.

That companionship lives in small exchanges: a view they want you to see, a question to solve together, a letter waiting until you have time to read it. The receiver won't constantly demand your attention. Whenever you're waiting on code or simply taking a break, you can pick up your shared journey. You create at your screen; your companion explores among the stars. Letter by letter, you connect two worlds.

The game was built in Godot, with some visual assets made using OpenAI's image generation.

How Tripo was used

The team built SceneForge, a platform on top of the Tripo API, to create diverse, detailed 3D assets grounded in one shared fictional civilization.

  • From lore to specs: SceneForge translates lore, materials, structures and wear into asset requirements.
  • The pipeline: AI plans the scenes, Tripo generates the complex geometry, and SceneForge adjusts scale, assembles spaces, samples point clouds and exports parts to Godot.
  • Details as clues: the expandable workflow turns architectural and object details into clues players can explore and interpret.
