Description

The author is a professional painter who brings physical objects to life through color and texture. For years, the author had the skills to paint original characters but lacked the 3D modeling skills to create their forms. Tripo bridged that gap, turning original designs into 3D models that could be printed, painted and finally held in hand.

This project brings a scene from the author's original anime world into reality as a hand-painted diorama. The author created the characters, their personalities and their world, and used AI-assisted illustration and animation to tell their story. Nagi, a sharp-minded young commander, travels through a weathered yet warm fantasy world with Poco, a gentle and dependable robot, and Ver, an affectionate dragon. Together, they protect the peace. After a job well done, they settle among the ruins for an afternoon nap, the quiet moment the author chose to make real.

Using Tripo, the author turned the character and scenery designs into 3D models, prepared them in CHITUBOX, resin-printed them, then hand-painted and assembled the diorama. Weathered walls, scattered rubble and the three resting companions combine AI-assisted creation with hands-on painting skills.

An accompanying film weaves together the author's original animation and the real making process. Its final sequence moves from the illustrated scene into the real diorama, before animation brings the figures to life for a friendly greeting. ChatGPT helped with story development, design and illustrations; the animation was made with Dreamina (Seedance), the music with Suno, and the edit and compositing in Premiere Pro.

This is a gift for everyone who needs a moment of peace after their daily battles. It also marks a personal milestone: a world the author could once only imagine has become something to hold and share.

How Tripo was used

Tripo is the core of the workflow: it filled in the 3D modeling the author could not do, turning original anime designs into physical objects.

  • Characters and scenery: the models of the three companions and the ruined setting were generated with Tripo.
  • From model to object: the models were prepared in CHITUBOX and resin-printed, then hand-painted and assembled into the diorama by the author.
