A Gift for D22 is a casual audio puzzle game in tribute to D22, a bar in Beijing's Wudaokou that the team calls the best place for punk music in the city. It is an eclectic place with a clear mission: to bring real, raw and unfiltered quality to its audiences, whether in the form of punk, jazz, experimental noise metal or weekly film screenings. Its tight community and commitment to local music draw serious music fans of all ages, and its owners, who have run clubs all over the world, are serious about music and film.
You walk through the familiar scene and interact with objects that make sounds to unlock abilities: guitar, bass, drums, and natural sounds such as pigeons and crickets. There is beer too. You then use those abilities to solve puzzles (not fully implemented in the demo), unlock new scenes and earn story and narration about the place and its time.
Along the way, the game asks a few deep, philosophical questions to get you thinking, and your answers change the camera, the music volume and the visual effects. In the final scene you become a performer, standing on stage and playing a music game with the abilities you have gathered. There is no failure, because the core experience is the stage, the scene and the story themselves. The game was made in Unity and runs on Windows.
How Tripo was used
The game's assets were generated with Tripo: the scene, the environment, and interactive objects such as the guitar, the bass and the pigeons.
