Description

Fantastical Garden brings together three worlds the author created through three different ways of making. The hope is that visitors will set aside familiar ideas about flowers and gardens and discover the other forms they might take.

Each garden has its own origin:

  • A garden of music and geometry: inspired by the musical quality of Kandinsky's paintings, whose points, lines, colors and shapes felt vibrantly alive to the author. Geometric forms grow into plants with a language of sound, rhythm and movement, a garden to wander through, touch and listen to.
  • A garden of black-and-white drawings: the author draws shapes freely, cuts them out and pieces them together, letting different parts meet. Some seem to grow together naturally, becoming living things the author never anticipated. The process follows intuition, listening to how the shapes want to grow until the garden gradually reveals its own form.
  • A garden of clay and candy: for the author, clay brings us back to an elemental, direct way of making, kneading, pinching, pressing and stretching, discovering shapes through contact with the material. That joy carries into a sunny world of softness and sweetness, where the animals are warm and optimistic, inviting visitors to see their surroundings with a child's curiosity and fresh eyes.

The game is made in Godot, with TapNow also used in development. In the gardens, plants make music and bear fruit, while animals sing, dance and rest beside the player.

It is a gift for those who dream and make, and for those who don't yet know they're creators. To the author, a garden is an expression of creativity: it can begin with a shape, a sound, a piece of clay or a thought of your own. Play and discover in these three gardens, then imagine a garden for yourself and let it grow into something uniquely yours.

How Tripo was used

Tripo turned the author's geometric, hand-drawn and clay-inspired designs into 3D plants and animals.

  • From design to model: Tripo generated the 3D plants and animals while preserving the distinctive character of the original designs.
  • Brought to life in Godot: the author then added animation, sound and interactions, so plants make music and bear fruit, and animals sing, dance and rest with the player.
  • Time saved: less time spent modeling meant more focus on building the gardens and shaping the player's experience.
