Try it live Description
KudoKids Worlds is built on KudoKids, a family app where children earn Kudo Coins for everyday chores and spend them in a companion store. For Tripothon, the author gave every kid a friend made just for them, and a world to share with that friend. It is a gift for the author's own kids, and for every kid who wants a friend made for them.
First, make the friend. In Maker Studio, a parent and child pick a kind of friend and the era it comes from, choose one of the concepts Gemini draws, name it and press Build. Tripo does the 3D work live: image to model, then a rig check that reads the body. Two legs get bones plus idle, walk and jump; four legs get a walk; a teapot stays a teapot. The parent picks its voice, and the new friend says hello by name.
Then, live with the friend. The companion moves into the whole app. It waves in 3D on the home screen and at the start of every feelings check-in, where its own stickers help a child name how they feel. It sits beside the child for affirmations, meditations and exercises, and cheers in celebrations with lines the parent wrote in its voice. It is there when a child checks in about a hard day, it sits with them through a meditation, and it is who they become on the Moon.
Finally, play in the world. The first theme world is Space, with two World Labs places: Moon Plaza and the Alien Garden. The child walks them as their companion. Up to four kids can join one world for co-op mini-games such as Star Scramble, Build It Together, Ring Run and Sky Drop; siblings by default, and approved friends once a parent allows it. If a preschooler is in the room, everyone plays as one team, with nobody knocked out and no ranking. There is no chat or voice, only stickers and emotes, and parents control every visit.
The KudoKids app itself predates the event, including the store's ready-made companions, the 3D viewer, feelings check-ins, meditations and the existing mini-game and multiplayer infrastructure. New during the event: the Maker Studio parent-and-child flow, the Gemini-to-Tripo pipeline, the gift hand-over and reveal, the World Labs theme worlds with walking and collisions, homemade companions as the child's avatar, world rooms for up to four kids, and four co-op mini-games. It was developed with the help of Claude Code.
How Tripo was used
Inside KudoKids' Maker Studio, Tripo is the core engine, turning a family's idea into a living 3D friend.
- Image to model: Gemini draws the concept, and Tripo image-to-3D builds a smart low-poly mesh from it.
- Rig check: Tripo reads the body and the app branches on the result. Two legs get idle, walk and jump; four legs get a walk; objects stay still.
- Auto-rigging and animation retargeting: bones and motion come from Tripo's auto-rig and animation retargeting; the author's own worker then renders the result, screens the clips and makes a portrait.
- One model, many places: the same GLB becomes the child's avatar in the World Labs worlds and appears on the home screen and in the gift reveal.
Some of the ready-made companions in the app's store were also modeled with Tripo before the event.
