One Breath

A meditation web app for the minutes after a long workday: turn a few words or a picture into a 3D companion, then follow voice guidance in the rain, by the sea or in a quiet room. When you open your eyes, it is still beside you.

Description

One Breath is a small gift from the author to their colleagues: people who work hard and throw themselves into life, yet often forget to keep a little time for themselves. Sometimes the workday is over but the voice in your head keeps going: arguments from meetings, unfinished to-dos, thoughts you never had time to sort out. The laptop is closed, but you haven't really clocked out.

Its Chinese name, Yixi, means a single breath, and also a stretch of time when you can set things down for a while. The app keeps a quiet corner in a busy day: leaves catching a light rain, a sea breeze passing by, a soft beam of light falling into a quiet room. Here you can rest for a while, slowly sort through your thoughts, or let the day end quietly.

This corner is also home to a companion you create. With Tripo, a few words or a picture become a tangible 3D figure. It can look like you or come from your imagination, and the companions you make are saved, so you can choose them again next time. When a practice begins, the figure settles into rest too. Close your eyes, listen to the sound you picked, and follow guidance suited to your experience and what you need right now, gently bringing your attention back to your body, your breath and this moment. When you open your eyes, your companion is still in the same scenery, having spent this quiet time with you.

The author hopes One Breath offers a kind of permission: to not have the answers yet, to let tiredness be seen, to spend a few minutes of the day not rushing to finish anything. Rest for a moment; the road ahead can wait until after a breath. The author also plans to develop VR and XR applications later.

How Tripo was used

In One Breath, Tripo turns "who I'd like to keep me company" into a 3D companion you can see, and it is the core of the app's personal companionship. The author wanted to explore whether 3D generation can carry a more participatory kind of emotional connection when a figure you made yourself becomes part of your daily rest.

  • Your own companion: the app integrates Tripo's text-to-3D and image-to-3D APIs, so users can create a companion from a description or a picture, save it and choose it again next time.
  • The default companion: Tripo was also part of making the default figure. Tripo handles character generation, Blender handles model cleanup, material tuning and animation fitting, and Three.js places the character in an interactive 3D scene that works with Doubao voice guidance to form the meditation. It responds to clicks, and when practice begins it sits down and closes its eyes to keep you company.
