Description

Realm of Mountains and Seas is a WebXR adventure played in a PICO headset that offers you the chance to become a guardian: you arrive in Qingqiu as an explorer and end up protecting a mechanical nine-tailed fox, facing a night raid alongside mechanical beasts.

At first you are free to roam the misty mountains and waters, fishing, feeding and riding the beasts and getting to know them. The nine-tailed fox answers your call, brings you fish in its mouth and walks beside you. Bit by bit, these moments give you a familiar companion and someone to look after.

When night falls, a pack of Geju attacks the fox. You watch for threats, strike back with the Chiru, hand the fox weapons and fight together with the other beasts to hold out until dawn. After the battle, you can feed it fish to help its tails recover and keep caring for the companion who faced danger with you.

Everything happens in the PICO headset's browser, driven by head tracking and two controllers: turn your head to look around, move with the controllers, and point in space to explore, fish, hand over fish, ride and fight. The scale of Qingqiu's landscape, the distance to each beast and the direction of the raid are all things you feel in person.

The author made it for the friends who stayed by their side through long nights and hard times, hoping players will feel in this VR adventure that their actions can help others: one timely rescue or one steady stand might be what gets a companion safely through the night.

How Tripo was used

Tripo is the production tool behind the core character assets. It links the whole pipeline, from concept design to 3D generation, model processing and WebXR interaction, turning the look of a mechanical Classic of Mountains and Seas into characters you can approach, interact with and fight beside.

  • Generation: AI concept art first set the look of each mechanical beast. Tripo image-to-3D and part segmentation then turned the mechanical nine-tailed fox and the other mythical beasts into game-ready 3D models, which were restructured, rigged and exported in Blender.
  • Gameplay: hooked up to animation, collision and behavior systems, the models take part directly in play. The fox follows you, carries fish, dodges attacks and strikes back with the Chiru, while the other beasts can be ridden or back you up in the night battle; the models are both the allies you fight beside and the foes you face.
